What is Street Photography

It is “Photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents”. Typically, street photography is about candidly capturing life in public areas. And contrary to its name, street photography does not have to be done on the streets.

Urban photography captures the beauty of urban life, while street photography documents everyday life in public spaces. Urban photography is a broad genre that includes street photography, but the two styles have different focuses.

*Focuses on the beauty of contemporary life in cities 

*Can include pictures of buildings, people, and transportation 

*Often emphasizes the surroundings to make statements about time and   place 

*Can be practiced in many urban environments, including streets, beaches, and festivals 

Street photography

* Captures spontaneous moments of people in a candid state 

* Usually has the aim of capturing images at a decisive or poignant   moment 

* Typically, not directed or staged 

* Closer to reality, with no posing of scenes, no control of props, and no control over light conditions 

*The subject is most of the time not aware they are being photographed 

*Urban photography is a hybrid genre that combines aspects and techniques of architecture, street, portrait, landscape, fine art, and documentary photography.
